We work with major brands, athletes and collaborate with international sporting events worldwide. The disciplines and processes are similar to typical retail environments – both online and offline. Understanding the sporting context and the customer is key to successfully manage the projects where we operate on behalf of a diverse client base.
We help to develop team merchandise ranges. In the past, we have worked with national and football league teams, utilising our expertise to successfully set up the retail and hospitality proposition, as well as the ticketing solutions in sports stadia.
Memorabilia is a large and growing market which transcends many sports. We manage the operations for the world’s leading memorabilia licensee at the most prominent sporting events in countries around the globe, including The Olympics, The Commonwealth Games, The Open and The Rugby World Cup.
A case study - Working with London 2012 to deliver a memorable retail experience
We were asked to…
We were engaged to oversee the venue retail operations for the official sporting memorabilia licensee at the London 2012 Games. The product range was premium in nature with many items selling for thousands of pounds, which required a special approach to handling, display and selling.
Our Approach
We had little time to spare due to tight timescales and immediately created a programme plan covering all aspects of the operation. This included the retail space, policies and procedures and training and integration with multiple parties, including the Organising Committee (LOCOG).
Output
We planned and coordinated the space fit-outs at the Olympic Park, Hyde Park and Wimbledon.
We recruited a first rate sales team to deliver the sales plans through the training and development of a comprehensive policies and procedures manual.
As a team, we delivered to the sales and profit budgets, meaning we were subsequently engaged to manage the Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup and Rio Olympics.
Feedback
Todd Brunel Managing Partner at Pursuit 3 Group:
“The team’s personable nature and leadership abilities were instrumental in getting everyone together on the same page, under sometimes less than optimal conditions. I can say with confidence that without The Retailer’s involvement and contributions we would have been hard-pressed to have the success that we did at the greatest sporting event in the world, the Olympic Games”.
